Kevin’s Chilean Adventure

A tale of puma tracking & panoramic vistas

In October 2024, one of our sales experts, Kevin Zimmerman, went on the trip of a lifetime to Chile, where he got to see the country’s many stupendous sides. After a good meal and night’s rest in Santiago, Kevin and his group made the scenic journey to the Wine Valleys. In particular, Rosario Valley, where they spent two days of bliss at La Casona at Matetic Vineyards, sampling wines, strolling amongst the vines and enjoying some seriously delicious food.

The unblemished scenery of Torres del Paine National Park

Then came the wonders of Torres del Paine National Park. After getting bundled up, Kevin and crew went exploring on foot, the striking Paine Massif leading their every step. There are lakes, rivers and giant glaciers in every direction, standing out in shades of ice-blue against the landscape. Their first two nights were enjoyed at Patagonia Camp, which has a wonderfully light footprint and staggering views from each luxury yurt.

The piercing gaze of a puma in Torres del Paine National Park

The second leg of their adventure in Torres del Paine took place at the Estancia Cerro Guido, a historic working ranch with views of the iconic peaks. For Kevin, one of the ultimate highlights of the trip was spending time with the amazing team at Estancia Cerro Guido and especially having the chance to join local trackers in the evening, resulting in an epic puma sighting from a ridge just above it.

Chilean Adventure
The majestic views that await in the Chilean Lake District

Next up was the tranquil Lake District where the scenery is out of this world, which Kevin enjoyed on hikes through forests and past mirror-smooth waters. Their final stop was Santiago for a proper look around. A city set in a valley surrounded by the Andes, Santiago has dazzling views and a walking tour comes highly recommended by Kevin. Taking a cooking class was another major highlight; happily, their class went well and the group enjoyed sampling their mouthwatering creations afterwards.

After a trip filled with amazing wildlife, scenery that surpassed every expectation and adventure galore – including impromptu swims in the Pacific Ocean, waterfalls and a mountain lake in Patagonia– Kevin left Chile with a renewed sense of passion for the country.
