More and more countries are welcoming travellers with ease and we’ve put together this handy guide to let you know where you can zip off to. Have a read to find out not only where you can go but what protocols you’ll need to follow. Those long dreamed of trips are coming closer and closer to reality.
Argentina – open
Argentina is open to all travellers with the no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements. However, the following applies:
• It is recommended that all travellers aged 6 years and over who aren’t fully vaccinated take a PCR test 24 hours after arrival.
• All travellers are required to have proof of insurance that covers any COVID-19 or related costs.
Be aware that any travellers aged 13 and over may be required to present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate to enter certain venues.
Bhutan – open
The kingdom of Bhutan is open to all international travellers with no pre-arrival testing requirements. However, all travellers 12 years and older may be subjected to random RT-PCR testing at formal points of entry. Should the results be positive, they will be required to follow a five-day isolation protocol.
It is also recommended that all travellers are fully vaccinated.
Botswana – open
Botswana is currently open to all travellers with no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements.
Cambodia – open
Cambodia is open to all fully-vaccinated (completed no less than 14 days before travelling) travellers with no testing requirements in place. Travellers are required to carry their vaccination certificate, excluding children below the age of 18 travelling with a parent/guardian.
Partially or unvaccinated travellers are required to complete a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in Cambodia at a location designated by the Ministry of Health.
Chad – open
Chad is open to all travellers with the following guidelines in place:
• Travellers with a valid, full vaccination certificate require no pre-arrival tests.
• Partially or unvaccinated travellers aged 12 or older are required to present a negative PCR test certificate conducted no more than 96 hours before arrival.
CAR – open
The CAR is open to all travellers with the requirement that they take a PCR Covid-19 test on arrival.
DRC – open
The DRC is currently open to all travellers and the following guidelines are in place, excluding those below the age of 11:
• All travellers are required to present a negative PCR Covid-19 test, conducted within 3 days of flying.
• All travellers are required to take a Covid-19 test at the airport at the cost of $45 per person. This test needs to be booked three days before arrival.
• Travellers are required to self-isolate until a negative test result is received, which is generally within 24 hours.
• When leaving, all travellers are required to present a negative PCR Covid-19 test taken within 3 days of departure. This test can be booked here at the cost of $30 per person.
Republic of Congo – open
Republic of Congo currently open to all travellers providing that those who enter:
• Present a negative PCR Covid-19 test, conducted within 72 hours of entry (this excludes children under 11 years old).
• Adhere to temperature screening on arrival and departure.
• All travellers are required to take a PCR Covid-19 test on arrival.
Ecuador – open
Ecuador is open to all travellers with the following guidelines:
• All travellers are required to complete a Health Declaration Form.
• Fully-vaccinated travellers (with the last dose received at least 14 days before flying) are required to present their certificate on arrival. However, they aren’t required to present a negative Covid-19 PCR test.
• Travellers may also choose to take a Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of boarding. This applies to flights to the Galapagos Islands as well. Children under three years old are exempt from any vaccination & testing requirements.
• Unvaccinated travellers who have tested positive within the last six months and are unable to receive/complete their vaccination are required to present a COVID-19 infection certificate and an official document proving the above dispensation and regulation in their home country (valid for 6 months).
• If a traveller presents COVID-19 related symptoms on arrival, they will be evaluated by a Ministry of Public Health (MSP) representative, prior to entering the immigration control area. In the event of a suspected case of COVID-19, the traveller will be required to take a rapid antigen test. If the result is positive, the passenger will be instructed to self-isolate for 10 days at their own cost.
Egypt – open
Egypt is currently open to all travellers with the following guidelines in place:
• All travellers are required to complete a health declaration form on arrival.
• All travellers are required to provide confirmation of a valid health insurance policy.
Eswatini – open
The Kingdom Eswatini is currently open to all travellers. All those entering the country will be required to present a negative PCR Covid-19 test, conducted within 72 hours of departure – travellers who adhere to this will be permitted to stay in the country for 14 days. The Eswatini government has stated that those visitors entering from a high risk country must quarantine at their own cost – we are awaiting further information on which countries this includes and will update when we have that.
Ethiopia – open
Ethiopia is open to all travellers with the following guidelines in place:
• Travellers who are fully vaccinated don’t require any pre-travel testing.
• Travellers who are partially or unvaccinated are required to take a PCR test 72 hours before departure or an antigen test 24 hours before arrival.
India – partially open
India is open to all travellers with a full, valid vaccination certificate from a programme accepted in India – this includes the USA and UK. The following applies:
• All vaccinated travellers aren’t required to have a Covid-19 test prior to or after arrival. Those from countries without an approved vaccination programme will be required to take an RT-PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours of departure.
• All travellers are required to complete a self-declaration form via Air Suvidha.
• All travellers are required to complete a health screening before boarding the flight & on arrival in India.
• It is advised that all travellers carry a digital and hard copy of the self-declaration form & vaccination certificate / test results.
Randomised Covid-19 testing will be carried out at the airport and anyone tested will be able to carry on travelling unless the results are positive.
Kenya – open
Kenya is open to all travellers providing they have an approved e-visa. Visas are no longer available on arrival.
Laos – open
Laos is currently open to all travellers with the following guidelines in place:
A Covid-19 vaccination certificate must be provided and, if not, RT-PCR test results received within 48 hours of arrival in Laos must be supplied. Children below the age of 12 are exempt from any testing requirements.
Lesotho – open
Lesotho is currently open to all travellers with no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements. However, entry is only available through South Africa.
Madagascar – open
Madagascar is currently open to all travellers with flights available from Johannesburg, France (CDG), Mauritius (Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam), Reunion (Roland Garros), Ethiopia (Addis Ababa Bole International Airport), Nairobi and Istanbul.
Malawi – open
Malawi is currently open to all travellers with no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements.
Maldives – open
The Maldives is open to all travellers and the below protocols must be followed:
• All travellers are required to submit a traveller declaration form within 96 hours of departure to the Maldives.
• All travellers must have a confirmed hotel reservation in a registered tourist facility for the entirety of their stay and will undergo a medical screening.
Mauritius – open
Mauritius is open for international travellers and the guidelines include:
• It is mandatory to wear masks in the airport.
• All travellers are required to hold proof of travel insurance that specifically covers COVID-19.
• Prior to travel, it is recommended that all travellers fill out the All in One travel form. This will generate a PDF with a QR code, which needs to be printed and presented on arrival.
Morocco – open
Morocco is open to all international travellers with no vaccination or testing requirements. All travellers must present a health form, printed and completed before boarding.
Mozambique – open
The Republic of Mozambique is open to all visitors with the following guidelines:
• Fully vaccinated travellers aren’t required to present a negative PCR test. Partially or unvaccinated travellers must present a negative PCR test result (not older than 72 hours) on arrival.
• PCR tests are valid 14 days from the date of collection, this should be considered for those planning a multi-destination trip.
• Children up to the age of 11 are exempt from the testing requirement to enter Mozambique
• The only land border currently open is the Lebombo/Ressano Garcia Border.
Namibia – open
Namibia is currently open to all travellers with no vaccination or testing requirements.
Reunion Island – open
Reunion Island is currently open to all travellers with no testing or vaccination requirements.
Rwanda – open
Rwanda is currently open to all travellers without the need for a PCR test before or on arrival.
A PCR test is no longer required should you be going gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Gishwati-Mukura National Park, Nyungwe National Park and Akagera National Park.
São Tomé and Príncipe – open
São Tomé’s borders are open and welcoming all travellers but the following protocols must be followed:
• Full-vaccinated travellers require no testing and must present proof of vaccination on arrival. Partially or unvaccinated travellers must take a Rapid Antigen Test 48 hours before flying to São Tomé and Principe, and are advised to carry a printed copy of the results. Children 11 years of age and younger are excluded from all requirements.
• No testing or proof of vaccination is required for flying between the islands.
• Should you be required to take a PCR or RAT based on your next destination, but this can only be done in São Tomé.
Seychelles – open
The Seychelles is now open to all travellers with no vaccination or testing requirements with the following guidelines:
• All travellers are required to complete a Health Travel Authorization form no more than 72 hours and no less than 9 hours before arrival.
• All travellers must have acquired adequate travel insurance that covers hospitalisation or quarantine.
• All travellers must provide booking confirmation for their chosen accommodation.
South Africa – open
South Africa is open to all travellers with no testing or vaccination requirements.
Sri Lanka – open
Sri Lanka is currently open to visitors with the following requirements in place:
• All travellers must be fully-vaccinated (with the last jab received at least two weeks prior to arrival). Travellers under the age of 18 are permitted to enter Sri Lanka with one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
• If you were unable to receive a second dose due to testing positive, proof of this must be carried with you. A Covid-19 vaccination certificate must also be carried.
• Any non-vaccinated travellers are required to present a negative PCR or Rapid Antigen Test result taken within 72 hours (or 48 for the RAT) of arrival.
Tanzania – open
Tanzania is currently open to all visitors with no vaccination or testing requirements.
Thailand – open
Thailand is open to all travellers with no vaccination requirements in place. However, the following applies:
• Symptomatic travellers are recommended to take COVID-19 test on arrival.
• Travellers are recommended to wear masks in all public places and on public transportation.
Uganda – open
Uganda’s international airport (Entebbe) is open to all travellers with no testing or vaccination requirements. The following guidelines apply:
• All travellers are required to make an online visa application here before arrival and carry a hard copy of their approval documents.
• All travellers are required to complete a digital health declaration form within 24 hours of arrival and departure.
Vietnam – open
Vietnam is open to all travellers with the following guidelines:
• All travellers are required to take a PCR Covid-19 test conducted within 72 hours of departure or carry evidence of a negative rapid antigen test, administered by a medical professional within 24 hours of departure.
• Travellers must obtain medical insurance with a minimum coverage of $10,000 and coverage of any Covid-19 related treatment.
• Upon arrival, a rapid antigen test may be administered should the passenger be exhibiting symptoms.
Zambia – open
Zambia is currently open to all travellers with no Covid-19 testing or vaccination requirements.
Zimbabwe – open
Zimbabwe is currently open to all travellers with no vaccination or testing requirements.
