In many ways, capital city Buenos Aires is like a little slice of Europe and there's certainly plenty of beautiful architecture to ogle at on a solo or guided stroll. The city overflows with history, including the Casa Rosada where Eva Perón gave her poignant speeches and the famous cemetery where she is entombed - but there's also a fabulous arts scene including a myriad of theatres, outdoor 'galleries' and, of course, the tango. You may just end up getting a lesson in the streets!

A part of Los Glaciares National Park, El Calafate sits on the shores of Argentina's largest lake, where the glistening Perito Moreno Glacier sits in all its glory. When here, you can choose to trek across the glacier on foot or admire the striking scene from the deck of a boat. Otherwise, join a local gaucho for a wild horseback ride into the countryside to look for Patagonia's unique wildlife, and then grab a drink at the country's first ice bar to toast your return.

Sitting within the Glaciers National Park, El Chalten is surrounded by indigo lakes and enthralling peaks. Explore the landscape on horseback or foot along the area's most iconic trails, and spot gatherings of guanacos and beautiful Andean condors. For a touch more adventure, embark on a multi-day trek or kayak down the rapids in Las Vueltas River Canyon.

Sitting at the southernmost tip of Argentina, Ushuaia is the gateway to Tierra del Fuego, a stunning archipelago where whales of every kind occupy the freezing waters, and hiking trails lead through rugged mountains and icy rivers. A cruise along the Beagle Channel will reveal islands of King penguins, sea lions and aquatic birdlife, and of course, there's the famous lighthouse standing like a sentinel at the 'end of the world'.
