The world is a strange place right now, but travel, and getting away from it all, is all we’re dreaming of. And if you’re anything like us, 2021 is going to be full of big bucket-list ticks, memorable moments on safari, and spending time with all our loved ones, somewhere beautiful in Africa, preferably.
In need of some inspiration? We chatted to the team to find out where they’d like to be if they could click their fingers right now…

Fly camping in the Lower Zambezi in Zambia
Jonty – Head of sales
Nothing gets you closer to the bush than spending a few nights in a fly camp. I’d love to spend at least four nights split between two or three different fly camps to get the full experience. The action-packed game drives, walking safaris, canoe and boat adventures are exactly how I’d like to explore the Lower Zambezi!

Unforgettable trekking with gorillas in Uganda
Tessa – Safari expert
To trek into the rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and come across a family of gorillas, must be the most humbling and incredible experience. I know the trek is hard, but to spend time with these amazing animals (and so close too!) would be rewarding and more than worth the graft to get there.

Get involved in conservation at Marataba in South Africa
Johnny – CEO & founder
With rhino darting, impala capturing, wild hiking and cheetah tracking all par for the course, Marataba is truly the future of conservation. This is a hands on and active participation conservation experience for travellers keen to get under the skin of Africa travel and go beyond the normal ‘safari’. After visiting this year, I can’t wait to get back again!

Witness the second largest wildebeest migration in Zambia
Eve – Content manager
I’d love to take a wild adventure to Western Zambia and watch 30,000 wildebeest journey through Liuwa Plains National Park, in the second largest migration on the continent. With the carnivore population on the rise through an African Parks conservation success story this is a contender for the wildest up and coming destination to visit!

Search for the rare pangolin in the Central African Republic
Joanna – Safari expert
Next year I’d love to get off-the-beaten-track and explore one of the most unique and special national parks in Africa, the Dzangha-Sanga. There’s a focus on conservation here and I’m desperate to explore the tropical rainforests in search of the extremely rare pangolin and the incredible western lowland gorillas.

Chase Wild African Dogs across Ruaha in Tanzania
Kristin – Safari expert
Ruaha National Park (the largest in Tanzania) has long been on my must-visit list! It’s ideal for escaping the crowds of the busy Migration Season in the north but wild dogs are the reason I’d love to go! Ideally I’d visit in denning season (May-Sept), the best time to spot these rare predators – the adventurous chase is like nothing else!

Spotting lemurs in the forests of Madagascar
Katie – Safari expert
Lemurs have always caught my imagination because they are native only to Madagascar. Since the island separated from the continent of Africa some 160 million years ago, its wildlife has evolved independently from that on the mainland, leading to species not seen anywhere else. Madagascar is like the Galapagos of Africa – unique and captivating!
