Northern Serengeti & Lamai, Serengeti, Tanzania
Nimali enjoys an unexpectedly quiet location whilst being mere moments away from the Great Migration action at Mara River.
If you can, bag Yusuph as your guide at Nimali Mara - he comes HIGHLY recommended.
While safari-ing will be at the very front of your mind, take some time to enjoy the superb facilities at Nimali - a soak in your copper bathtub overlooking the plains is heavenly.
With Bedouin-style canvas roofs and solid frames, the camp's architecture is sleek and modern, yet blends discreetly into this landscape. The main area is surrounded by slide-away glass that opens to the spacious deck and the vistas beyond. Inside, the smartly furnished lounge offers a few cosy seating areas; the dining area incorporates indigenous timber into the contemporary design. The outdoor fire pit is the place to be come nightfall, where the conversation flows and the stars twinkle like gems.
Ten tents thread across the hillside, each secluded and oriented to soak up the broad vistas. They too are enclosed on all sides by glass, so it's fair to say the views are the camp's most prominent feature. Take it all in from the daybed on the front deck, with its sunken lounge and fire pit. Indoors is, frankly, luxurious, with four-poster king-sized beds, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a deep copper bathtub beside the window.
The Serengeti in northern Tanzania is an epic wilderness of broad savannas, rocky outcrops and river-sliced valleys. The word itself comes from the Masai, siringet, which means "endless plains". Best-known for the annual Great Migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra, this is the place to be to witness the animals crossing the croc-infested Mara River in nail-biting style. But even if you're out of season, there's plenty of permanent wildlife to see.
The staff is what really made this place!! Every last person that worked there did something special for me! However, the copper tub needed refinishing…since that’s what attracted me there, at the price! Overall, unforgettable experience and I’ll be back! As a growing travel influencer, @theambianceabroad (IG), I will be sure to leave a stellar video review that goes viral about Nimali Mara!
Nimali Mara is an exceptional property. Our room was spacious and gorgeous. The bathrooms though nicely appointed could use more lighting. The service is out of this world. Our butler anticipated our every need, from the laundry service to cleaning our hiking boots. The food is very good and the game drives were exceptional.
This camp was definitely special! The tents (if you can call them that) were incredible, the staff was amazing and the food was very creative and absolutely delicious.

The Serengeti National Park is an ecologically rich environment and home to vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, Thomson's gazelle and buffalo grazing on the sweet grasses of the savannah. Even after the Great Migration has moved through, the game viewing is exceptional in this region. The predators are never far off, with cheetah and lion in abundance and leopard readily seen in the Seronera region of the Central Serengeti. Enjoy expansive grasslands, acacia thickets, meru kopjes (granitic hills) and riverine forests.
