Stay at the Cape Cadogan and home is a classically beautiful Victorianised farmhouse that was declared a National Monument in 1984 – and for good reason. With a sweeping whitewashed façade, pretty tiled floor and grand Romeo-and-Juliet-style balconies, you can’t fail to be impressed as you meander up the pathway from the main street. Neighbourhood-wise, this is Cape Town at its trendiest best; kooky Kloof Street is around the corner while the bars and cafes of Tamboerskloof are just up the hill. If any hotel deserves the title of ‘best kept secret’ it’s the Cape Cadogan…

City Bowl, Cape Town, South Africa
The location! You’re so close to some of the best bars and restaurants in Cape Town but the hotel is a glorious, tranquil oasis amid the hubbub.
Every afternoon, the hotel serves local wines and scrummy canapés in the lounge and staff offer tips on the hottest new restaurants and bars in town – make sure to pop along.
While the street outside may have a rustic, unpolished feel, it's a true reflection of the city's vibrant and diverse spirit!
A tranquil reprieve from the rush of the city, Cape Cadogan’s interiors are calming, sophisticated and ever so slightly eccentric. The hallway and lounge are resplendent in gilded mirrors, sparkling chandeliers and framed art in an Oscar Wilde-esque bohemian vibe whilst the breakfast room is muted and elegant with crisp white tablecloths and perfectly plush chairs. Vast French windows open out to a manicured garden and mini plunge pool – the perfect sun trap in the afternoon.
The 15 bedrooms are as pretty as a picture and whilst no two are the same, common themes include heavenly beds atop sumptuous carpets and a perfectly soothing colour palette of creams and neutrals. Seven luxury rooms have their own balconies or courtyards and a touch more privacy but the standard rooms are just as enticing albeit without the outside space. All bathrooms are ensuite and come complete with a full range of Charlotte Rhys toiletries for decadent pampering.

It would be rude not to discover the cafes, restaurants and shops of Kloof Street and Tamboerskloof that are on the doorstep; we suggest exploring on foot to get right into the thick of things! Further afield, there’s penguin-spotted Boulders Beach and the stunning Chapman’s Peak Drive and Cape Point to keep your days action-packed. Or, if wine is your thing, ask the hotel to pack a picnic and head to Franschhoek and Stellenbosch for some of the world’s best wineries.
