The best time to visit Jordan is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to October) when the weather is mild and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the country's famous sites like Petra and Wadi Rum. Spring sees the landscape blooming with flowers, while autumn offers comfortable temperatures without the heat of summer. These seasons also offer the best conditions for outdoor activities like hiking and sightseeing. However, these are also peak tourist seasons, so you might encounter larger crowds and higher prices. Summer (June to August) can be extremely hot, especially in the desert areas, and winter (November to February) brings occasional snow in certain regions.
The biggest airport in Jordan is Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, where most international flights will arrive. Many international airlines have direct flights to AMM and Royal Jordanian Airlines offer international and domestic flights.
It is easily accessible from Amman as it is located around 30 km south of the city. Transportation options from the airport include taxis, buses and car rentals.
King Hussein International airport is the 2nd biggest airport in Jordan, close to the city Aqaba. The airport handles less flights then AMM and is used more for domestic flights. Access to Aqaba is easy with several public transportation options or private rentals.
No specific vaccinations are needed to enter Jordan, however, it is advisable to be up to date with standard vaccinations. Please consult your personal physician and/or a travel clinic preferably 6 weeks prior to your departure. Vaccine requirements vary based on your country of origin and your travel itinerary and your previous vaccination history. It is best to consult with your physician or the CDC website for guidelines.
It is generally recommended to drink bottled water; also, be cautious with street food and eat at reputable restaurants to avoid foodborne illnesses.
Jordan is fairly safe for tourists but it’s best to be aware of small crimes like pickpocketing. If you are planning on driving, please note that the conditions of many roads are poor and traffic can be chaotic.
