What you'll do
To put it mildly, Zanzibar is a diver's Nirvana. With balmy, 27°C waters, crystal clear visibility and reefs to suit novices to diving masters, you can't go wrong. Not to mention the dreamy marine life who glide over coral-capped outcrops and peek out from inky caverns. To the north, the rugged reefs play host to whitetip reef sharks, honeycomb moray eels and manta rays. The Nankivell Reefs are fantastic for beginners with colourful parrot fish, seahorses and the wacky sea goblin! Diving off the southern coast means dolphins and lots of them, and for night diving, head to the eastern reefs. March is the ultimate time to go, when every detail feels made for diving and visiting between October and February promises some memorable whale shark spotting.
