Lovely Amanzi is the charming little sister to Anabezi, the larger camp that’s just up river. Living up to its name (‘amanzi’ means ‘water’ in the local Tonga language), the camp is tucked away in the waterways of the Zambezi River on the beautiful and secluded Ngwenya channel. Whether you choose to discover the wildlife of this watery paradise by boat, canoe, vehicle or on foot, a safari from Amanzi is intimate, exclusive and highly personal. And with only 4 perfectly stylish tents, the same can be said for the camp too.

The extraordinary peace and quiet - and the sense of being completely at one with nature and your surroundings in this little slice of heaven.
The centrepiece of the magnificent view is a mosaic of pretty islands in the centre of the channel. Watch from camp as the ellies munch on the green grass only a stone’s throw away.
The minimum age at Amanzi is 8 and 12 for most of the water-based activities, so this probably isn’t number one for family holidays.
Effortlessly designed to the make the most of the serene environment and decorated in soothing natural hues, it doesn’t get much more relaxing than the main area at Amanzi. Swaying hammocks call invitingly and the infinity pool is just the ticket for a refreshing dip. The splendid position on the river ensures game viewing can continue throughout the day from every sofa and armchair and, happily, even at mealtimes from the elegant dining area.
4 tents are raised on stilts and connected to the main area by a network of elevated walkways, allowing 4-legged visitors to pass by (mostly!) undetected. The rooms are simple and rustic but with every creature comfort you could wish for and, we think, rather stylish with vast beds, hand-woven rugs and snug armchairs. The en-suite bathrooms are covered but there’s an outdoor shower with a view to complete the glamping experience.

Activities at Amanzi are tailored as much as possible to suit each guest and game drives will always only have 4 people in a vehicle which keeps the focus personal. Explore the mighty Zambezi by boat, cruising amongst the wallowing pods of hippo or get to grips with a canoe and discover the smallest channels and tributaries. Walking safaris are also available with very knowledgeable guides and cover the varied habitats lining the river.

The Lower Zambezi National Park lies in a large river valley with fertile soils providing the basis for a thriving ecosystem. Elephant and buffalo congregate along the river to graze along with impala, zebra and more, enjoying the nutritious vegetation of the region. Lion, leopard and the spotted hyena follow the herds, hunting as they move.
