About Angsana Velavaru

Angsana Velavaru is a perfect island destination playground
Perched on an expansive private lagoon in the virtually untouched South Nilandhe Atoll in the Maldives, and just a 40-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport, Angsana Velavaru (known as “Turtle Island” in the local Dhivehi language) is surrounded by sparkling turquoise waters and ocean views as far as the eye can see.

Property details

The property

Angsana Velavaru or 'Turtle Island' is one of those islands that evokes a sense of calm from the moment you arrive....a great place to unwind from the stresses of life. Its beach villas have had a makeover and have a more contemporary feel with subtle touches of colour and the addition of pools to some rooms. On the other side of the lagoon are the InOcean Villas, the first 'stand alone' cluster of water villas in the Maldives. Those seeking total peace and tranquility will like this part of the resort. Great views and great space. Dining options are a lovely Italian overwater restaurant, Azzuro. The main restaurant is a traditional buffet style with some live cooking but again barefoot. Another dining option is the pool bar or Funa in the evening (chargeable). Velavaru has a good house reef and access is direct from the in ocean villa jetty (but its a bit of a swim) or on a complimentary daily house reef boat trip.

The rooms

Angsana Velavaru offers two distinct categories of villas. Our island-based villas are the perfect choice for couples and families who love playing on the beach and waking up under the palm trees, while our in-ocean villas are uniquely placed on stilts in the ocean.
