Amid a sea of ultra-modern buildings, the Auberge is a breath of fresh Provençal air, complete with fragrant courtyards and hidden terraces.
Burgundy Restaurant, part of the hotel, is hands down one of the best in town. Advance reservations are essential!
The middle room is the smallest room and although it doesn’t have a balcony, it does have a mountain view. If you’re planning on being out and about all day, it would make an excellent (and cheaper) choice.
A reception area faces out onto the central cobbled courtyard, with lavender-lined walkways and stone staircases leading to the private ground- and first floor rooms. A large swimming pool and sun lounge is a favourite spot during summer, and hidden shady gazebos and tranquil gardens offer quiet spaces to relax within the grounds. Breakfasts are served in the Burgundy Restaurant across the road, well known for its fine cuisine and outdoor dining deck overlooking the Old Harbour and market square.
Auberge Burgundy offers elegant accommodation, with nineteen guest rooms including standard rooms within the main hotel with mountain or garden views, poolside suites, and penthouse balcony suites overlooking the ocean. All are stylishly decorated to reflect the French flair of the wonderful main building, with plenty of space and super-comfortable beds. Décor is natural and beach-inspired, with muted tones, natural textures and beautiful linens creating an all-round feeling of laid back luxury.
In a prime central position, Auberge Burgundy is the perfect base for exploring this popular coastal town, famous for its superb whale-watching opportunities between July and November. Regardless of seasons, there are plenty of adventure activities nearby, including hiking, horse-riding, boat cruises and shark cage diving. Wine tasting tours to nearby vineyards are a popular choice, and the surrounding area has a number of nature reserves which offer some interesting hiking and wildlife viewing in this scenically beautiful Overberg region.
