The charming, two-storey house is perfectly-positioned to take in stunning lake vistas, which are on full display in the sunlit lounge. The high-ceilinged main living room is warmed by a roaring fire, and is a lovely spot to enjoy a book from the library or play board games. Las Bandurrias restaurant has an elegant feel with ornate tiles and chandeliers, and serves a menu of southern Chilean dishes. The bar offers a selection of classic liqueurs and fabulous views at sunset.
Wood-panelled corridors lined with sketches of local flora lead to the rooms and suites, all of which have wide windows along the lake-facing wall (some have neighbouring volcanoes in their eye-line too). In all, the palette is a cool blend of grey, cream and honeyed wood, which continues into the bathroom, and amenities include central heating, Wi-Fi and a TV. The suites have French doors that open onto a private terrace, and a separate living room too, whilst certain ones also feature a face-brick fireplace, Jacuzzi or clawfoot tub with views of the lake.
Enjoy walks along the lakeshore, explore its waters with a dip or kayaking excursion, or a spot of fishing from the dock. The area is made for cycling too, with over 100km of bike trails to meander along, including the lovely Cerro Philippi. The Lake District is full of natural beauty, from the cascading Petrohue Falls to the wildlife of Parque Nacional Vicente Perez Rosales, which you'll discover on hiking trips. And be sure to spend time in the casa gardens, especially if you're a birder.
