What you'll love

Tanzania’s first camp to be staffed entirely by women, guides and mechanics included, Dunia is setting the standard for women leading the way in the safari industry. We love!

Insiders tip

There are three key areas for game viewing in the central Serengeti and Dunia has access to all of them. We say stay for several nights and experience it all.

Something to think about

The location of the camp is lovely and quiet but that also means a bit of a drive from the airstrip. Think of it as an extra game drive, however, and you’ll be laughing!

The property

Dunia possesses a simple yet graceful style that enhances its surroundings. The camp is situated in a secluded valley in the central Serengeti, with views of the surrounding wilderness. A comfortable lounge and dining area create a relaxing atmosphere without detracting from the wildlife experience. A fire pit with safari chairs provides a communal area in which to socialise and catch up on the day’s antics.

The rooms

Dunia Camp consists of eight en-suite, evenly spaced, sizeable tents that are slightly elevated on the slope of Nyareboro Hill. Simple decor with weathered wood, coir mats and fine linen create a naturally textured backdrop. Comfortable simplicity ensures the focus remains on the wilds beyond. Here, privacy is a given. Guests can recline on their private chaise longue and watch nature unfold on the magnificent grassy plains.

Activities

Game Drives
Hot Air Ballooning

Dunia Camp offers twice-daily game drives into the central Serengeti. Knowledgable guides are on hand to share their local knowledge, years of experience and wisdom. For the twitchers, there is plenty to see both at the camp and on game drives. Fancy something a little more adventurous? Why not take to the skies in a hot air balloon and admire the game from an entirely different perspective? If you’re traveling as a family, there are limited child-friendly activities to keep young minds enthralled.

Positive impact

Dunia Camp is owned by Asilia Africa who pioneers sustainable investments in vulnerable East African wilderness areas, fostering conservation economies for local communities and increasing biodiversity. Through collaboration with stakeholders and guest contributions, they achieve significant positive impacts. Their latest project, focusing on the Usangu Wetlands in Tanzania's Ruaha National Park, aims to promote sustainable tourism while preserving the region's unique ecosystem and biodiversity, ensuring long-term benefits to conservation and local communities.

A contribution of $10 per guest, which is included in the nightly rate, goes towards the above goals.

The Serengeti National Park is an ecologically rich environment and home to vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, Thomson's gazelle and buffalo grazing on the sweet grasses of the savannah. Even after the Great Migration has moved through, the game viewing is exceptional in this region. The predators are never far off, with cheetah and lion in abundance and leopard readily seen in the Seronera region of the Central Serengeti. Enjoy expansive grasslands, acacia thickets, meru kopjes (granitic hills) and riverine forests.
