Ask anyone to describe Estancia Peuma Hue and the word paradise is bound to come up - and the eco-lodge certainly lives up to its name, meaning “the place of dreams” in the native Mapuche language. Nestled between imposing mountains and sitting pretty on the shores of Lake Gutiérrez, this 500-acre slice of heaven houses a maximum of just 28 guests offering both a highly personalised experience and plenty of land to roam free. The property is home to forests, pristine creeks and waterfalls, as well as an array of local wildlife. And with gourmet healthy eats and endless activities on offer - from kayaking and horseback riding to forest immersions and guided meditations - it's a destination in itself.
From $410 person/night
That all-around feeling of serenity and connection to both nature and yourself. Peuma Hue is an environmentally and socially conscious lodge and there’s just a permanent vibe of positivity in the air.
All accommodation options fall within the fixed pricing packages and are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis - if you have your heart set on a specific room or villa, book early!
Accommodation is full-board and most included activities take place within the lodge’s vast grounds, so don’t expect to frequently come and go from downtown Bariloche, which is a 25-minute drive away.
Most of the socialising takes place in the main building, the Poplar Lodge, where guests gather for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The set menu is balanced, healthy and delicious and showcases seasonal produce from the onsite organic garden, greenhouse and orchard, as well as from neighbouring local farms. Around the property you’ll find a stable with beautiful horses, a non-denominational temple, infinite pastures to roam (sometimes with the wildlife!) and a 4 km-stretch of lake shore to wander on. Bonus: while exploring, you can always count on the company of the lodge’s tail-wagging dogs.
Apart from the Poplar Lodge, which has four charming rooms serving up idyllic lake views, there are three other villas of varying sizes scattered throughout the grounds. All rooms are doubles with private bathrooms, but most can accommodate an extra bed too and, if travelling with family, booking an entire villa is always an option. Within each villa there’s a common living room, and some include a kitchen or cosy fireplace. For those into glamping, two amazing yurts - complete with king-sized bed and private bathroom - are the perfect option and come at a discounted rate.
Whether you opt for the adventure or wellness packages, or you choose to take each day as it comes, there are activities aplenty to keep kids and grownups smiling. A paradise for hikers, there are plenty of self-guided trails around, while horseback riding is a prime way to explore the surroundings - all skill levels welcome! Kayaking on the lake is a great way to see the scenery in all its glory, and, if looking for an adrenaline rush, whitewater rafting down Manso river is just the ticket. Then, decompress with some yoga or a mindful forest immersion, or just sit back and take in the sublime natural surroundings.
