The only beachfront resort on the entire island of Nha Trang, Evason has the monopoly on crystalline ocean views and the best diving spots amidst the darting marine life. Set up like a traditional Vietnamese village along the shore, the resort has two large pools, an over-the-water spa, and easy, exclusive access to the beach from every villa. There are adventurous excursions aplenty, from hikes into the jungle to white water rafting, but if you fancy reclining all day, pull up a lounger and tell them to keep the homemade ice cream coming. Did we mention that the island gets 250 days of sunshine a year?!
From $250 person/night
Finding a little slice of paradise with the hustle and bustle of the island just beyond the palms.
If you can't decide on dinner, head to the Pavillion Restaurant to partake in their five-course tasting menu with a different wine to accompany every dish.
Although on the coast, the resort is in the middle of town, so the areas beyond Evason's private beach aren't free of crowds.
Amidst tropical gardens filled with frangipanis and dancing palms, you'll find breezy pavilions with varied menus. Breakfast is a continental buffet accompanied by a glass of Buck's Fizz and for dinner, seafood is a major feature. The bar has a true island vibe and sits conveniently next to one of two pools, which are well-adorned with comfy day beds. The spa hovers over Evason's water gardens and offers a range of soothing treatments, all topped off with steaming herbal tea served in the thatched pagoda.
Evason has 74 semi-detached rooms in large villas scattered throughout the gardens. Their peaked roofs and columned verandas give each a traditional feel, while the interiors are laidback and uncluttered. Each room has a King-sized canopy bed, as well as a pillow menu with an impressive 16 choices. The view ranges from garden to sea-facing, and some villas sit right on the beachfront. The bathrooms are semi open-air with a waterfall shower and stone bathtub. Rooms are very spacious, but the suites also benefit from a lounge and private garden.
Get your island kicks on the water - there's island hopping, snorkelling and sunset cruises - or in the jungle - hike to see the grand White Buddha, swim in the pools below the Ba Ho Falls or even mountain bike. Otherwise, enjoy a conical hat making classes, stroll through the many markets, or a visit to the hot springs. There's never a dull moment and when the sun drops, be on the look out for street food evenings with traditional music filling the air.
