The property

Manicured lawns sweep down to a pool, past flower-filled ponds and then on to the slopes, where they lead to the snow-covered mountain peak. There is a relaxed lounge atmosphere and Tusks Restaurant is one of the most exquisite restaurants in Nanyuki. It offers a sophisticated indoor venue which extends onto a terrace, with a great view of the mountain. There is an outdoor heated pool, a spa and a nine-hole golf course as well as a pool bar.

The rooms

The resort has 120 luxuriously appointed hotel rooms overlooking Mount Kenya or the gardens. Each of the guest rooms, suites and cottages reflect the history and charm of the original residence, complete with modern day facilities. The air-conditioned rooms are spacious and opulently decorated. Some feature exposed brick walls, chandeliers and four-poster beds. A rainfall shower is provided in each private bathroom. The huge wood-burning fireplaces are lit in the evenings to ward off the crisp mountain cold.

Activities

The resort offers a myriad of activities. Safari adventures including nature walks, bush dinners, game drives and horse riding through the forest. Free bicycles can be borrowed from the front desk. Camel treks, whitewater rafting and fishing trips can be organised. For those who wish to spend time relaxing at the resort, there are many recreational activities available: golf, croquet, a bowling green, table tennis, swimming, an animal orphanage and more. The brave can even attempt to climbing Mount. Kenya.
