Koh Samui might be known as the party island but Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary is set to change all that. The words 'magical', 'peaceful' and 'rejuvenating' are thrown around a lot when people talk about this heavenly spot, and with very good reason. Favoured amongst the rich and famous, the focus here is on spirituality and self-discovery - a total reset for the body and the soul. Enjoy massages, meditation, sleep enhancement therapies (sign us up please!) and focused detoxes. Although we are pleased to report there's not a carrot stick in sight...
From $130 person/night
Getting away from it all. There are no TVs in rooms and a no-technology rule makes it the perfect place to relax and restore.
Don't shy away from a detox out of fear you'll be put on a water-only diet. You'll enjoy delectable dishes peppered with local Thai flavours such as lemongrass coconut stew.
The property is built on a hill so not ideal for those with limited mobility.
As you might expect, Kamalaya can absolutely be relied upon to provide heaven-sent spa and wellness treatments. Visit the ancient meditation cave, enjoy a yoga class, swim in one of the two pools, sweat toxins away in the herbal steam cavern, or indulge in a much needed massage in the alfresco spa. The two restaurants offer all manner of healthy delicious meals to indulge in (sensibly!), and there are cooking classes available so you can take your favourite dishes home.
There are a number of room types to choose from, ranging from hillside suites to beachfront villas; some enjoy balconies, others indoor/outdoor bathrooms. The choice is yours! Whatever you choose you can guarantee your room will provide the sense of calm you've been craving, with peaceful and very chic colour palettes, and beds you won't ever want to leave.
Unsurprisingly, the activity focus here is on improving your well-being and state of mind. Relax into calming treatments, pick up tips from lectures, learn how to cook a healthy dish, or take time out to meditate and find a spot of inner peace. Now that sounds like a holiday...
