Property details

The property

If you thought 3D printing would affect comfort levels, think again. Decked out with multiple immaculate dining venues (including a pizza tuk tuk and picnics in the dunes!), two beach clubs, a bar and a Natural Wellness Centre (which offers an assortment of divine treatments using traditional medicines), Kisawa brings a new meaning to island living. There's also a tennis court and water sports facility so there'll never be a lack of activities to enjoy. Touches of nature fill the light and breezy library and lounge, and a dip in the the oasis-like pool guarantees remarkable views of the chalky sand and lapping waves.

The rooms

Privacy-seekers, prepare yourselves, because each of the 22 idyllic bungalows comes complete with an acre of seaside garden, a private swimming pool and your very own slice of beachfront (in a sheltered cove or atop the dunes). There's a selection of rooms, ranging from one to three bedrooms, and all are surrounded by swaying trees and a gorgeous view of Mozambique's coast. With walls made of sand and seawater mortar, and interiors decked out in white linens and creamy textiles, each thatched villa pays perfect homage to the place Kisawa calls home.

Activities

Benguerra Island is known to be one of the most accessible dive sites on Africa's east coast so snorkelling or enjoying a spot of scuba diving is a given. With neighbours like humpback whales, tropical fish, rays and the oh-so-rare dugong, there's plenty to see. You could even enjoy the many aquatic sights from a dhow or paddleboard. The island's forest, lakes and dunes (including a 150-m high dune just behind Kisawa), are definitely worth exploring. P.S. there are over 140 species of birds to be found for any avid birders out there.
