If you’re looking for a charming oasis in the Franschhoek wine valley, these distinctive villas are a lovely option. Located just a short stroll from the centre of this historical village, La Clé introduces you to the art and culture of the region with unique shops and notable restaurants just beyond your doorstep. Ideal for couples, family or groups of friends (all villas can be booked exclusively and all but one can be booked as single rooms), the two to four bedroom houses each come with spacious indoor and outdoor entertainment areas and swimming pools - essential for a summer’s day in the winelands.
From $370 person/night
The modern and contemporary design. South African design maven Sarah Ord has given each villa a unique theme and they are each absolutely stunning.
Book a villa exclusively and enjoy various special treats such as house drinks and chauffeur-driven transfers.
La Clé offers a very different atmosphere to a traditional hotel, and bear in mind that if you book a single room, you will be sharing a 'house' with others.
Each villa has an open-plan dining and living area leading onto a wide terrace overlooking manicured gardens and a swimming pool. For a pop of colour and modernity choose Galerie, the contemporary two-bedroomed villa. Then there’s Grange (which should really be called ‘Grande’), with its opulent and spacious three bedrooms. Head to the historical two-bedroomed Manoir for unfussy elegance and a gorgeous garden. For larger parties and absolute indulgence, the lodge is the star of the show- each of the five rooms can be booked separately or book the entire lodge for exclusive-use luxury with the most breath-taking view of the Simonsberg.
Each villa presents its own atmosphere and unique artistic essence. Within each of the villas, each guest room is decorated with elegance, opulence, and care. Explore the lodge, Grange, Manoir, Domain, and Galerie to find the perfectly styled villa to suit your vacation.
We recommend starting your day with a stroll into town for a cafe au lait and petit dejeuner. Plot your route on the winelands map and head out for your first tasting. Some of the popular wineries include Haute Cabriere (for spectacular views across the valley, chardonnay-pinot noir and cap classique) and Boschendal, a 300-year-old estate. Lunch and dinner is a foodie affair in this culinary capital. Enjoy the break between with a leisurely swim and siesta at your villa.
