La Petite Ferme is one of the smaller boutique vineyards on the slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains which fringe this stunning wine producing valley. It is renowned for its legendary restaurant which reels in a constant stream of awards and accolades, and is one of the top lunchtime venues in the Cape. The gorgeous guest rooms and cottages are set around the restaurant in rolling gardens overlooking a trout lake, with vineyards all round and fabulous views. Guided cellar tours and wine tasting sessions are firm favourites on this wonderful working vineyard.
From $330 person/night
Enjoying possibly the best views in the entire valley with a glass of something chilled on the terrace.
If lamb is on the menu, consider it ordered. It’s the signature dish in the restaurant and adoringly reinvented each time the season changes.
La Petite Ferme is a Franschhoek stalwart and although lovely, you may find some elements (service especially) a little old-fashioned.
The focal point at La Petit Ferme is the swishy French restaurant overlooking the vineyards, with rolling lawns leading down to a trout lake. Guests can stroll along the garden pathways to explore the wine cellars and tasting rooms, and relax next to the swimming pool. If you’re lucky to be here on a Friday evening during summer, a live band usually plays on the terrace. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, with dinner options available on neighbouring wine estates.
Stylish interiors feature a sophisticated blend of French flair and rustic African touches. There are nine lavish guest suites and two secluded self-catering cottages, one with a single bedroom and the other with two bedrooms which is ideal for families. Four suites are located in the Manor House next to the restaurant and main swimming pool, and five are scattered throughout the quiet vineyards a few minutes' walk from the restaurant, with private plunge pools and verandas.
Fly fishing and guided wine tasting sessions are offered on the estate. Day trips to the surrounding vineyards can be arranged for you, and there are a number of excellent golf courses nearby. Franschhoek Valley has an abundance of fine gourmet and wine destinations, with unusual options of horse-back wine tasting tours. Hiking in stunning mountain nature reserves, mountain biking and paragliding can also be set up from reception. Stock up on La Petit Ferme's estate wines before you leave.
The cleanest place with the best service. Staff members were extremely accommodating and kind. I would love to stay there longer the next time I go.
Beautiful location and rooms. Food was as amazing as it’s reputation
