The property

Beautifully tended tropical gardens and an attractive neighbourhood cocoon this large-windowed house. Indoors, a small inviting lounge area lies beside a simple, bright restaurant area with views through the windows of the gardens. (Breakfasts are included; evening meals must be ordered beforehand.) Outside, a tiled courtyard surrounded by greenery shelters a swimming pool that is perfect for cooling off in the summer heat.

The rooms

Of the 12 spacious twin or double guest suites, 10 offer optional self-catering facilities. Each is individually decorated in bright shades and simple patterned fabrics – the ambience throughout is calm and comfortably modern. The standard minibar is there to be dipped into, there's internet access and satellite TV. Each room also has its own private patio, perfect for relaxing in the sun or getting on with work.

Activities

Blantyre offers a host of attractions. It's worth exploring the city centre's great shops and paying a visit to the Museum of Malawi (or Chichiri Museum) for an injection of local culture. The Blantyre sports club is open to those willing to pay an entrance fee, and there you can find plenty of activities like tennis and swimming. Arrange a mountain-biking adventure, and get the. local vibe at Al Pacino's Bar. Feeling energetic? Climb Ndirande Mountain for some incredible views.
