The warm, homely restaurant serves a mix of continental, African and international dishes using produce from the lodge's own gardens. There's a four course dinner menu at the restaurant, adjacent to the bar and lounge area, and the fireplace area offers magnificent views of Mount Meru. 40 acres of beautiful gardens are there to be explored; a two kilometre walking and jogging track winds through the trees if you fancy a leg stretch, or just relax by the swimming pool.
There are 40 thatched brick cottages set in beautiful green gardens. All are very private, separated by profusions of bougainvillea, coffee plants, and colourful flowers and trees. All the rooms are spacious with fireplaces, en-suite bathrooms, single or double beds, mosquito nets and a private veranda from which to watch all the comings and goings in the garden.
One of the popular daily activities at Moivaro is the village walk; a wonderful opportunity to see everyday life in Tanzania, and make closer contact with the local people. Another option is to visit a local banana brewery and sample the beer. If you've got a little longer, book a walk in the surrounding area - they typically take around two hours, and can involve a climb up Oldonyo Maas Hill.
Dusty, rustic and a little bit quirky, there’s plenty to do in Arusha before or after a safari.
