Built high atop an old anthill, Nambu Camp is entirely elevated, offering soaring views across the Olifants West Nature Reserve. Sharing an unfenced border with Kruger National Park, wildlife is free to roam in their numbers and the camp's guides have a real talent for finding just what you're longing to see. With only six chalets, the camp has an exclusive and intimate feel, and there's ample space to relax and soak up the view – this includes a well-loved waterhole below where herds of elephant arrive to drink. The team is highly efficient and treats you like family, always ready with a smile.

Being able to see all the comings and goings at the waterhole from a cushy spot in camp – the safari never stops.
The camp caters for kids with real aplomb including simpler meals, two inter-leading chalets, and superb and very entertaining guides.
The reserve is slightly more barren than other areas of the Kruger so the diversity of sightings may be less, but the wildlife is still impressive.
With its thatched roofs and orange-red exteriors, Nambu Camp has a rather distinctive look, and inside, you'll find a classic safari lodge style. The pool (heated when needed) will quickly become a favourite hangout with its amazing views over the waterhole below. Alternatively, head for the vast viewing platform where you can enjoy an armchair safari and try to spot the resident tawny eagles. The owner is a foodie so the cuisine is top-notch; choose from an ever-changing set menu and enjoy it in the alfresco boma area.
Winding wooden pathways lead through the gardens to the six chalets, each simply decorated in neutral, earthy tones and rustic finishes. They are all furnished with plump king-sized or twin beds (with a hotel-standard charging station) and the modern bathrooms have full amenities and a rainfall shower. Each chalet has a private deck; four enjoy views of the wilderness beyond while Number 3 and 5 look onto the garden. Each is air-conditioned and they have ample storage space for personal belongings and luggage.
As is standard, Nambu Camp offers two daily game drives and the undulating landscape provides fantastic vantage points for spotting predators on the move. The Olifants River flows through the reserve, which is home to hordes of crocodile and attracts leopard, buffalo and plenty more. There are also over 250 species of birdlife within the reserve so keep those binoculars ready – you may even spot the rare Pel's fishing owl. Bush walks, led by the camp's expert guides, are also fantastic.
