Superbly positioned in amongst the rocks of the Kogakuria Kopjies (little hills) in the northern Serengeti, Lamai Serengeti is a beautifully-simple camp that has undemanding elegance down to a T. The interiors are serene and tasteful, yet never detract from the spectacular view across the grasslands that teem with wildlife for much of the year, especially when the Great Migration moves through the area from July to October. Add to that the quality guides who will take you on a journey of exploration and discovery, this is just the camp for the discerning traveller looking to enjoy the best of the Serengeti.

Northern Serengeti & Lamai, Serengeti, Tanzania
The hilltop position offers some of the best views in the Serengeti and a relaxed afternoon by pool, watching the game amble on by, is the perfect place from which to enjoy them.
If the length of the grass is right, try a bush walk; they provide a wonderful insight into all the smaller things often missed on a high-paced game drive and Lamai has special permission to offer them in this area.
The furthest rooms require navigating through some extra boulders and it can be challenging, especially at night. Rooms closer to the main area are much easier to walk to.
The camp’s spacious central areas are built from white-washed concrete and wood and the rough, thatched roofs and pretty fabrics add to the rustic charm. The dining space is decorated in soothing pastel colours and the mirrored tiles in the walls are quirky and lovely. The lounge is a free-flowing space with comfortable wrap-around couches perfectly positioned to catch the breeze during the heat of the day or to enjoy the fireplace during the chilly winter evenings. Outside, there’s a platform for starlit meals and an inviting swimming pool with wooden decking and recliners. Expect the same in the private camp, just on a smaller scale.
The twelve tented suites are divided between a larger camp of eight suites and a smaller, private camp of just four suites. Each has a neutral colour palette that blends seamlessly into the environment and adds to the feeling of peace and serenity, and all are spacious and inviting. Ensuite bathrooms have his-and-hers brass basins, and a shower with hot running water. Relax on the enormous double bed and gaze out at the African wilds unfolding in front of you, or update your journal at the writing desk.
Game drives are the preferred method of exploration in this section of the Serengeti National Park and allow you to cover a larger area in your search for the stars of the wildlife shows. You may also embark on a full day drive complete with picnic lunch to really make the most of your time in the bush. If walking safaris are more your cup of tea, they are available at certain times of year depending on the length of the grass. Back at base, the swimming pool is the ideal place to unwind in the heat - and handily provides a good place to watch the animals below too!

Show all wildlife
The Serengeti National Park is an ecologically rich environment and home to vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, Thomson's gazelle and buffalo grazing on the sweet grasses of the savannah. Even after the Great Migration has moved through, the game viewing is exceptional in this region. The predators are never far off, with cheetah and lion in abundance and leopard readily seen in the Seronera region of the Central Serengeti. Enjoy expansive grasslands, acacia thickets, meru kopjes (granitic hills) and riverine forests.
