Camp centers around rustic, communal areas, one on a raised deck with prime views over the Busanga Plains (this is where you'll find power points for charging cameras, etc.) and another lower lounge, which is kept shaded by stretched canvas - perfect for reclining away from the noon heat. There is a refrigerator for cold drinks, which feels like a top-tier luxury out here, but is nonetheless a welcomed extravagance.
Just four thatched chalets are tucked into the edge of an old-growth forest, with views of the plains and their diverse habitats beyond. They have en-suite open-air bathrooms with flushing toilets and piping-hot bucket showers. Life here is pared-down for sure, making your soft mattress, plush pillow and pretty textiles all the more critical. But the views and the passing wildlife are all the entertainment you need...
Drives on the far-reaching plains are the focus of Ntemwa activities, however many other habitats might be explored. Your guides are the experts in this remote region and though they are happy to take requests, best you leave the decisions up to them - you're in great hands. Keep your eyes peeled for massive herds of buffalo and red lechwe, and an array of other plains game; and look out for the dominant 'Papyrus Pride'. Walking can be arranged in the outlying forests, as can special birding expeditions. Birding is especially productive here, with several rarer species like wattled cranes and rosy throated longclaws and the extremely scarce Pel's fishing owl and African finfoot in attendance.
Ntemwa-Busanga Camp is owned by Classic Zambia for which Conservation is a central mission, ensuring the symbiotic thriving of nature and local communities. Their organisation, Musekese Conservation, combats poaching in Kafue National Park, and they invest in guide training to nurture stewards of Africa's parks, led by renowned trainer Kyle Branch. Sustainability is ingrained; camps run on solar power, waste is managed consciously, and local procurement minimises ecological impact. Through skills training and employment, Classic Zambia empowers communities, reducing reliance on illegal activities like poaching.
A magical landscape on an epic scale where cheetah and lion roam free, yet tourists rarely visit.
