Property details

The property

Okuti Camp’s main areas flow one into the other. The reception area, with its domed thatch ceiling, leads to a long area equipped with a dining table and comfortable chairs (the meals are highly recommended). Around the corner, the lounge's leather wrap-around sofa and armchairs beckon you to relax. The decor throughout is tasteful, eclectic and, above all, African. Outside, a fire bowl surrounded by comfortable fold-out chairs makes for convivial evenings. There's a swimming pool to plunge into at the end of a safari.

The rooms

You can stay in a family, honeymoon or luxury mosasa (reed house). Each mosasa is very spacious and, like the main area, has a domed roof and is built on a raised teak platform from which to admire the lagoon. All are furnished with soft comfortable linens, mosquito netting and a ceiling fan for those hot summer afternoons. The en-suite bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers with hot and cold running water; the honeymoon suite includes a large stone tub.

Activities

There's such an abundance of wildlife in Moremi that most of your time will be spent exploring the reserve in a safari vehicle. Motorised boat trips through the waterways bring you close to hippos, tigerfish and other aquatic life, as well as really good birding (including squacco herons, marabous and yellow-billed storks). Unwind beside the pool or on your private deck, watching the water slowly drift by. Night-time exploration of the wilderness is not permitted in Moremi.

Insiders tip

Insiders Tip

Game drives are always rewarding but be sure to set off on an afternoon boat ride for a hippo-level view of the beautiful waterways.
Something to think about

Something to think about

The Moremi is one of the busier parts of the Delta, so game drives can often feel slightly less intimate. Self-drivers are also permitted in the area, so you may see a few more vehicles than expected when out and about.
