Ololo Lodge is an Australian-owned safari lodge that combines the atmosphere of bush-style living with the full service, amenities and comfort of a luxury city hotel. The lodge is situated right on the edge of the African wilderness, overlooking Nairobi National Park. Birds and animals in the park are visible from the terrace and restaurant as they move around the bush. There are a total of 16 luxurious rooms of various types at the lodge. The Kitchen at Ololo, the lodge's restaurant which also overlooks the park, offers delicious meals. Sustainable practices are incorporated into the lodges operations, which always makes our ears perk up.
From $290 person/night
The lodge was originally built as a family home (albeit a very stylish one!) and you'll love the classic African mix of thatched roofs, stone walls and airy verandas.
All the rooms are different so pay attention to what you're booking. For a real treat, the Terrace and Tower rooms will make you feel like a princess.
This lodge is very close to the international airport and if you're a light sleeper, take note that planes fly in and out until around midnight every night.
The heart of Ololo is a traditional colonial farmhouse which has been restored and extended by the owners. Its rooms feature a blend of traditional African and modern styles. There is a large open living room with a fireplace, and an adjoining library. All the rooms in the original building have views over the national park. The restaurant, ‘The Kitchen at Ololo’, is open to the garden and serves farm-fresh dishes. Tables are often set up on the terrace for the best views.
The lodge has a total of 16 rooms, consisting of different types of accommodation. The Terrace Room and The Tower Room have private terraces, the three tented cottages offer a bush experience with thatch roofs and canvas and stone walls. The original stone-walled stables of the property have been transformed into the seven individually-designed Stable rooms. The Stable Cottage is a three-bedroom cottage. All rooms have room service, WiFi, spa services and large baths with natural bath products.
Guests can go on game drives to Nairobi National Park and cultural excursions can also be arranged on request. Visit the Karen Blixen Museum set in the Danish author’s Kenyan home, the Giraffe Centre, and Daphne Sheldrick’s Elephant Orphanage where you can adopt a baby elephant, and Anselm Kitengela Hot Glass, where craftsmen blow glass in the foundry building. Shopping at local markets can also be arranged or simply sat back and relax in Ololo’s living room.
Show all wildlife
A land of stark contrast, where a rolling wilderness meets the rising buildings of a growing city, proving that harmony can be achieved in a modern world. Explore and discover a diverse range of wildlife in the Nairobi National Park; species like zebra, warthog, giraffe, buffalo and lion are in abundance with Black rhino sightings almost a given. There are leopard and cheetah, but these shy creatures can be a little more difficult to spot. This birdlife does not disappoint either with more than 400 species present in the region.
