About Rio Azul

What started off as a fishing lodge on the Govuro River near Inhassoro, north of Vilanculos, has developed into a lovely luxury accommodation built along a scenic, sandy beach. Rio Azul means "Blue River" and that is apt because looking out from the soft wooden decking you see nothing but an alluring river system that leads out to the ocean, full of adventure. Take in the sunsets facing in a relaxed but still luxurious environment, spending days out on the water honing your angler skills or simply finding a small space to enjoy the quiet of endless open spaces.

Highlights

Each room comes with its own estuary boat, incase the wind at sea picks up.

The beautiful views over the estuary from the chalets and your private plunge pool make for the perfect beachside lazy days.

With an estuary and beach this is a great spot for surf and fly fishing on a catch and release program.

The property

The main centre structure of the lodge lies under thick thatch, with an expansive wooden deck overlooking the estuary. A stone masoned central bar area with high top chairs invites you in for a cold drink out of the suns rays to socialise with other guests. A small plunge pool dotted with sun loungers adds to the with views amongst the fold back doors and comfortable natural sofas. There is also a small shop onsite to buy basic amenities.

The larger villas have expansive open plan lounge areas, neatly laid out amongst light, natural furnishings and a large deck with a plunge pool, loungers and dining area.
