A quiet corner of Tamarin Bay, overlooking an impressive lagoon, sits Sands Resort and Spa, a gentle haven for those looking to unplug and switch off. The lagoon, framed by the Le Morne mountain in the distance is surrounded by fringing coral reefs and glassy waters making this a water baby's delight. Spend your days adventuring in the ocean with the myriad of activities on offer or pull up a sun lounger either by the very appealing pool or along the sands of the beach. Friendly and warm service will set the tone for some serious relaxation.
From $210 person/night
The free Hammam spa is well worth a visit.
A must do activity is the free glass-bottomed boat snorkel excursion where, if you are lucky, you might spot a turtle or dolphin.
Keep an eye out for the 5pm snacks.
The Sands is everything but ostentatious. Light, natural colours invite you to step under thatched roofing and out towards the main three dining areas, with wide open sides allowing the calming breeze, the romantically located Pink peppercorn under the trees and night sky a highlight. The real focus is the pool deck and bar which guests gravitate to before sunset- bring your camera along and if you are looking for a bit or privacy head down to the beach.
Brightly decorated and spotlessly clean is what you can expect from Sands. Each of the spacious rooms face out towards the sea, a magnificent way to wake up. The more executive options have private decks, some on the ground floor looking out over manicured gardens towards the lagoon and easy beach access. Equipped with satellite TV , monsoon shower heads with all the comfortable amenities you could want without being over the top.
Take along some shoes for the water if you are planning to do some swimming and snorkelling as there is sharp coral off the beach and the water is fairly shallow. Explore a bit of nearby Flic en Flac if you are looking for a night out or looking to balance out your drinks bill with some cheaper prices at the local watering holes as resorts can be quite expensive.
