This simple structure offers a pleasant, airy setting from which to enjoy views of the floodplain and river beyond. Colourful cushions and chairs liven up the lounge area, with a few authentic artefacts to pique your interest. There is a small book collection and a very small bar. The single, long, communal table doesn't look like much but during meal times animates with conversation from guests' adventures and serves up simple, wholesome meals. The open sandy patch harbours the campfire whose cozy tug flanks a day in the bush - in the morning, enjoy a cuppa and a slice of fire-roasted toast before you set out for the day, in the evening, sip a gin and tonic and recount the day's adventures as you watch it crackle beneath a vault of stars. A small plunge pool adjacent to the main area offers some reprieve from the heat, though not much shade.
Six Meru-style tents stand clustered together just a short walk on ground-level pathways from the main area. The tents are a little too close to feel as if you've got the wilderness all to yourself but, hosting a maximum of twelve guests, it is a far cry from crowded. They are nevertheless perfectly adequate with lovely porches and floodplain views. Inside they are spacious, with ensuite bathrooms, two single beds (draped with mosquito netting at night, tucked away during the day) and solar-powered lighting. Enjoy a heated bucket shower alfresco - a basic but real-safari style luxury!
Sango's privileged location - close to Moremi National Park but in its own community concession - means it offers access to one of the Delta's prime regions, with maximum flexibility. Drives are conducted on both sides of national park boundaries and are thus not limited to daylight hours. Walks and mokoro trips are great ways to slow down and enjoy the little things, but are both seasonally dependent. The camp's hide, just a few minutes' walk from the main area, allows great solo game viewing between drives.
An affordable Delta option with wildlife as diverse as the landscape and a smattering of unique lodges
