Almost everyone that visits Sausage Tree comments on the staff – dedicated, experienced and passionate, their attention to detail will be the cherry on top of your stay.
If you can book in for a microlight flight. They might only be 20 minutes but the views of the reserve spread out below you in a glorious carpet of flora and fauna are fabulous.
Sausage Tree is a simple camp so don’t expect frills and fancies – but the spa does make a lovely added extra.
At the heart of camp is a large wooden deck with views across the trees of the riverbed and the distant mountains. A thatched lounge incorporates a comfortable seating area with beautiful bush-inspired fabrics and lots of hardwood furnishings. Outside on the deck, another thatch-shaded seating area overlooks a small pool with deck chairs, and the fire pit. Most meals are served at a long table on a separate shaded deck, where the atmosphere is convivial.
Sausage Tree has just five elevated canvas tents, each sleeping two. The rooms are simple, with mesh windows and zipped, foldaway doors that open to lovely verandas looking into the woodland. With plush beds in double or twin-bed configurations, crisp cotton linens and a few splashes of colour, the tents are super safari-style comfortable. Each has an en-suite bathroom with flush toilet, indoor shower and bathtub, and an alfresco shower. Summers are hot, so aircon and a fan are provided.
