At Thanda Tented Camp, it’s nature all the way and a truly authentic safari experience. After the sun sets in a red glow, you’ll wine and dine around a crackling bonfire. Then, once night falls and you fall asleep to the distant cries of howling jackals, the only thing separating you from a galaxy of shining stars is the canvas of your safari tent. Wake to the dawn chorus of a thousand birds as you enjoy a steaming coffee, before heading into the reserve to watch South Africa’s wildlife in action – and of course, to fall in love with the bush.

Something to think about

This isn't the smallest of camps, but the rooms have ample space between them and it does feel private to a certain extent.

The property

Thanda Tented Camp is subtly stylish, using natural light and colours accented with rich red hues. It features a round thatched outdoor lounge perched on stilts, tucked into the bush and accessed by a raised decking. A rim-flow pool surrounded by sun loungers is the perfect spot for soaking up the warm African sun, while a waterhole entices thirsty animals to drop by for a visit. Dine indoors surrounded by African art, or outdoors in the boma around a bonfire.

Tucked in thick bush and uninterrupted by the sounds of civilisation are fourteen spacious tents. But they are no ordinary tents – these romantic safari suites are the ultimate in luxury camping, with wooden floors, glass doors and plush décor. Each has a large bedroom, private sun deck and en-suite canvas bathroom. Then there is the extra luxurious Jabula Tent, complete with its own lounge and splash pool, perfect for honeymooners or celebrating an extra special occasion.
