This lodge has sadly closed its doors indefinitely.
On a pristine and very private peninsula on the Gulf of Papagayo, The Kasiiya is the ultimate glamping experience. Designed by world-renowned architects, the camp was built to have as little impact on the precious environment as possible. In fact, you could dismantle the entire place in two days without leaving a trace! Your surroundings are 123 acres of tropical forest where rare birdlife flitters between the branches and beautiful beaches are only a short walk away - the perfect base for adventures of every kind. Pop into Punta Gorda, one of Costa Rica's top snorkelling spots for water-based adventures but, whatever it is that takes your fancy, the team will tailor each day to your bucket list.
From $680 person/night
Located in a private corner of Papagayo, you'll feel like you have the beaches, forest and camp all to yourself.
Kasiiya means 'pace of life' in Swahili and just about everything at the camp is tailored to the guests in residence. Be sure to share any requests or must-do activities before you arrive.
The location of your tent influences the view and ease of beach access - choose wisely!
Entirely solar-powered and built on timber platforms to ensure the forest remained unscathed, the common areas are as simple and close to nature as possible. The Beach Cabana serves Costa Rican dishes with a modern twist, as well as international fare - the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast at sunrise or dinner right on the sand. In the Sunset Lounge, enjoy a cocktail with a view and in the spa (hidden deep amongst the trees, of course), relax into a delicious treatment using oils produced on-site. There are also yoga classes at the open-air bungalow.
A collection of tented suites are sprinkled along the hillside (look out for whales!) and down to the shore, with some just a few steps from Laguna Beach. Each tent features floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious terraces that offer sensational views of the peninsula and endless ocean. Inside, light, cream tones, wooden furnishings and bright yellow cushions make for a casual yet stylish look. Each tent has an indoor-outdoor bathroom, some with a funky, vintage tub on the patio. All have air-con and fans - but you can choose to let the fresh breeze flow through.
Down on Laguna Beach, the Adventure Tent has everything you'll need to prepare for kayaking, paddle-boarding and snorkelling and nearby, there are amazing reefs for diving with eagle rays, seahorses and turtles. If you're visiting at the right time of year, a full-moon water 'trek' could be on the itinerary too. Sailing trips will reveal dolphins and whales (in season), or, if you'd like to remain on land, head into the forest with an expert guide for an exclusive nature experience on foot or horseback.
