About The Leela Mumbai

This grand and well-tuned hotel is an oasis in the bustle of sense-soaking Mumbai
A sprawling metropolis, Mumbai is a city of extremes from the classic, colourful bazaars to its reputation as the 'film city of India' (which you can get to know on a Bollywood tour). The Leela fits right in with 309 well-appointed rooms and a collection of dining venues, all set in 11 acres of garden complete with a waterfall. As Mumbai's answer to a resort hotel, The Leela combines traditional elements with a polished exterior. It feels like an escape from the busyness of the city, with days spent sipping crafted cocktails by the pool amongst endless swaying palms, before exploring the city.

Property details

The property

As we hinted at before, there are plenty of places to eat at The Leela. The Citrus provides all-day-dining on international cuisine; Jamavar is their signature Indian restaurant; Le Cirque Signature serves up Franco-Italian dishes in an elegant dining room; The Great Wall offers Chinese specialities in a retro setting and the Six Degrees bar comes with a poolside terace, and inside, a sleek setting. You can also enjoy high tea at the elegant Lobby Lounge or Royal Club, a range of treatments at the spa (and salon!) or yoga by the pool.

The rooms

The Leela has a wide selection of rooms, each with a king size bed, pillow menu, en-suite bathroom and neutral interiors with a splash of colour in the patterned rugs and framed artwork. There are 303 city or pool view premier rooms, 58 Royal Club rooms with a private butler and access to the Royal Club; and 30 suites of different calibres. On the 7th and 8th floors, the suites are decorated with traditional motifs and come with a private butler, massage showers, a dining area and lounge. The Presidential suites have the added bonus of a jacuzzi!

Activities

Although The Leela is outside of central Mumbai, a drive into the city will supply you with plenty to do. Begin your adventures in Mumbai with a heritage walk or cycling tour. Visit the Gateway of India and the grand Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Explore the 150-year-old Chor Bazaar with its endless antiques, soak in the fragrance of Dadar Flower Market and enjoy views of the Arabian Sea as you stroll down Juhu Beach.

Insiders Tip

It's worth asking for a room with a garden view. Otherwise, you'll be looking out over the rooftops and Metro Station - not as pretty.

Something to think about

The Leela is a little far from the main sights of central Mumbai but you can hop on a train just down the road.
