Tlouwana Camp

There's an intimate, understated atmosphere about this camp. The main area consists of an open-sided dining room, shaded by a stretched-canvas roof. Adjacent is a lounge furnished with plush leather sofas and chairs, and beyond that, another bright sitting room and a kiddies' corner that's stocked with toys. Outside, a swimming pool is surrounded by a wooden deck with a handful of sunloungers.

Tents are elevated on golden pine-wood decking, with broad, shaded porches out front. Entered via canvas "doors", the interiors are simple but slick, with four-poster double beds draped with mosquito netting. At the rear of each is a spacious bathroom with double basin, flush toilet and hot shower. Family rooms are considerably larger, sleeping four comfortably. Enter from the wide veranda through sliding glass doors to the open-plan room, furnished with two twins and a double bed.

Expect the full range of activities. An unhurried morning boat cruise on the Chobe River is a great opportunity for photographers – revealing water-loving species like hippo, croc and storks, and often elephant. Afternoon game drives in the national park cross a range of habitats, so you'll see creatures big and small. Take night drives in Chobe Forest Reserve, or a bike tour to nearby Lesoma Village. A day-long guided trip to Victoria Falls is well worth the effort. Enjoy!
