This ‘Grand Old Lady’ needs little introduction as one of the most famous hotels on the continent. Seamlessly blending colonial glamour with some serious style thanks to a recent refurb, the Victoria Falls Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1904 and is an icon of a bygone era. Nowadays, the hotel is famous for its tranquil location 10 minutes away from the awe-inspiring Falls, the utterly charming service and mesmerising view of the misty spray rising from the bridge… best enjoyed from the terrace alongside a pot of tea and a tower of scones of course.
From $290 person/night
This is one of the most famous hotels in Africa and it's no surprise why. Watch mist rising from Victoria Falls over breakfast, then take the private path to the very top for a truly breath-taking view. Priceless...
Enjoy a 'night out' without leaving the hotel, whether it's dinner and a traditional dance show at the Jungle Junction or an opulent evening at the Livingstone Room - pack your glad rags!
This old icon is showing its age, but there is a selection of accommodation ranging from the original rooms to more modern options. Choose according to your taste.
Guests are truly spoilt for choice for dining spots and places to relax, and all come complete with that astonishing view and the gentle thundering of white water in the distance. Try the Bulawayo Room for an after-dinner port, Stanley’s Terrace to marvel at the scenery or perhaps the meticulously manicured gardens for an afternoon with a good book. There’s also a swimming pool, beautiful Edwardian-style spa, 2 tennis courts and nearby golf course should the mood take you.
All 161 rooms have their own charms and quirks. Choose from the old-world elegance of the original Central Deluxe rooms, the newer and more contemporary Stable rooms, placed around a pretty courtyard, or the all-out glamour of one of the suites, complete with acres of space and vast four-poster beds. Not all of the rooms look out to the Falls however, and we highly recommend nabbing one that does. What’s a gin & tonic without a view after all?

The on-site activity centre is a handy one stop shop for all your Victoria Falls needs, from the nail-bitingly adventurous white-water rafting and bungee jumping, the slightly more sedate helicopter flights and the perfectly relaxing river cruises and guided walks. Also worth a mention are fishing trips on the Zambezi and a stroll around the town of Victoria Falls for those all-important souvenirs.
