The rooms are Villa 33 are simple but perfectly appointed, and all have been recently decorated in classic neutral tones. The standard rooms have en-suite bathrooms, queen sized beds and TVs, and are ideal for a night or two. For a longer stay, the studios and suites have a larger living area, as well as a small mini fridge and coffee and tea facilities - and a good work area if you need to take care of any business. There's also a pretty family room, and with two double beds in each room, it's a good choice for friends travelling together.
There's plenty to do in Blantyre, and staff at the B&B can help you book activities if you're interested. Try visiting Mandala House, the oldest colonial house in the city, with an eccentric gallery collection and a decent cafe. The National Museum of Malawi and St Michael's Church are also interesting, historically, whilst the central Africana gallery has some incredible prints, books and maps to admire. If you fancy a tipple, stop in at the Carlesberg brewery.
Genteel and historical, spend time in Malawi’s second-largest city and you might fall for its charms.
