About Wapa di Ume Resort & Spa

Not far from the bustle of Ubud, this serene enclave is just what the doctor ordered.

With its superb art galleries, dance and music traditions, and deeply-held heritage, Ubud is often dubbed the cultural heart of Bali. Whilst there, dabble in local pursuits, peruse the overflowing market stalls, and visit the Ubud Monkey Forest, home to hundreds of long-tailed Balinese monkeys. Just five minutes outside of the town centre, Wapa di Ume is your gateway to this culture hotspot. The setting is bucolic and palm trees wave above lush rice paddies. Designed by Balinese architect, I Ketut Siadana, the entire resort has a traditional yet fresh feel to it that makes relaxation very, very easy.

Property details

Two inviting pools with plenty of loungers sit beneath the palms and are the perfect spot to soak up the tranquil atmosphere. If a little more R&R is called for, head for one of the open-air treatment pavilions to enjoy a Balinese massage using heady essential oils. The resort also has a state-of-the-art gym and yoga studio if you're feeling a bit more active. Overlooking the verdant rice fields, the restaurant serves up a range of Balinese and intercontinental dishes from an a la carte menu. Every day, complimentary afternoon tea is served on the upper level.

All enjoying spectacular views of the rural scenes below, the resort has a collection of suites and villas, which are either sprinkled across the hillside or located beside the river. Their style is classically Balinese with a touch of elegance and you'll find pale wooden furnishings and pinstriped bedding. The bathrooms are a real treat with sunken tubs that will have you blissed out within minutes. The Di Ume Suites offer added space and a larger balcony, while some villas have two or three rooms. All come with their own pool.

The resort runs a complimentary shuttle to and from Ubud throughout the day, making it easy to nip into town to take in the art scene and pick up an original piece or two, or to visit the local temples and see the famous dancers in action. You can also venture a little further afield to explore the Tegallalang Rice Terraces or trek along Campuhan Ridge for the ultimate view of Ubud. And of course, there is the sacred Ubud Monkey Forest, which you can explore on foot.
