Although only a 30 minute drive from Livingstone, Waterberry’s simple yet charming thatched cottages feel a million miles away from the hustle of the town. Set amid picturesque gardens on the banks of the Zambezi with panoramic views of the shimmering water and Zimbabwe winking from the opposite bank, it’s often hard to tear yourself away. But if activity and excitement is what you’re looking for, rest assured that the efficient team at Waterberry will take care of all your Victoria Falls needs.
From $590 person/night
The superb service and the relaxed atmosphere. The mix of hearty food, traditional (and super comfy cottages), and friendly smiles is an all-round winner.
Be sure to take a sunset boat ride on the Zambezi. It's blissful even if you see nothing but the setting sun, but especially fun when elephants make their way down to drink, mere metres away from you.
Waterberry is about 40 minutes from the falls, so not ideal for quick visits. We reckon it's more suitable if you're spending two or three nights in the area, but it's so pretty, it might be worth it even if you're not!
The 2 storey main area is a homely and welcoming thatch construction with unbeatable views from the top floor. Settle down in one of the comfy sofas and while away an afternoon watching the birds twittering above or head down to the garden terrace and bar for a closer view of the river (and a cocktail). When darkness falls, choose between the terrace restaurant, a private pontoon or the gardens as a backdrop for dinner.
Dotted around the lawns, the 7 thatched cottages all have views of the tranquil dam or river and spacious verandas from which to enjoy Mother Nature’s surroundings. All are well decorated and feel charmingly homely. A two-storey cottage is perfect for families as is the new River Farmhouse, an idyllic 4-bedroom house with its own private chef, butler and swimming pool.

The on-site activities at Waterberry are excellent and include photography workshops, nature and bird-watching walks, boat trips and sundowner cruises and guided visits to the local village and Livingstone town. What’s even better is that 2 activities per day are included in the very-reasonable price, including a visit to the Falls. The team at Waterberry can also help you organise just about any Falls activity too, from adrenaline fuelled bungee jumps to a far more restful lunch on Livingstone Island.
