Escape the rat race in the most magical way at this tiny tented camp in Antarctica. Your journey begins on a Gulfstream flight from Cape Town to the camp's own blue-ice runway - and as you sit on a glacial ice plateau, surrounded by mighty granite peaks, you'll feel like you're in an explorer's wildest dream... Wolf's Fang is equipped with heated tents and a cosy lounge area and, with seasoned Polar guides, you'll be in the best hands for an unforgettable adventure in the Antarctic Circle. Each day brings new opportunities to ride fat bikes across the snow, climb sheer walls of ice and see the colony of Emperor Penguins first-hand!
From $10.9K person/night
The pure, undisturbed peace of being in the world's largest (and iciest) desert.
The camp hosts an annual Virgin Summit trip, where you'll have the chance to climb to the top of a mountain where no one has ever set foot.
There's no nipping to the shops in Antarctica so you'll have to arrive in Cape Town at least two days before your flight for luggage approval.
In tents of steel-grey canvas, the central hub at Wolf's Fang has a lounge decorated with plump leather sofas, checkered cushions, and a couple of good reads to page through. With cosy chairs and gold details, the communal dining table is a jovial spot to enjoy meals made with the freshest ingredients from South Africa, accompanied by a glass of the Cape's finest wines. While you won't need to cool off, the outdoor 'Ice Bar' serves cocktails with a sensational view.
There are just seven heated tents with minimalist, unfussy furnishings. The double or twin beds are draped in cosy blankets, and there are open hanging closets and trunks for storage, as well as tea and coffee stations. All tents have a simple washroom and there are two shared shower facilities in a separate tent. Water is hand-pumped so it's best to be mindful of how much you use. The entire camp is eco-friendly, carbon-neutral and completely removable.
While there are tight safety rules, the wintery surrounds are ripe to be explored. Head off in a specially-modified 4x4 to sled across the snow, go on a rope walk 200 feet above a sea of ice waves, and take to the sky on a scenic flight - the photographers will thank us. You'll also have the chance to go on longer excursions to see even more of the glacier, visit the incredible colony of Emperor Penguins, and camp out in the South Pole.
