Antarctica

Day 2

Step aboard this grand expedition ship to begin your unforgettable journey across the polar regions. From the vantage of your cabin portal and on deck, take in breathtaking sights and scout for unique wildlife. And get ready for life-changing adventures in the snow, mountains, and glacial waters of Antarctica.

Come equipped with warm clothes, a good camera, and a spirit of adventure!
Each day will offer different opportunities to appreciate the breathtaking landscapes of the region and spot unique wildlife.

All activities will be dependent on weather conditions during your expedition, but you can be sure that your crew will be watching the storm clouds to find the perfect time for each adventure.

On Deck

Take a moment to adjust to life at sea, finding your sea legs, and getting to know your way around the deck. Enjoy socialising with fellow shipmates, sipping cocktails, and sharing stories together.

Your crew will offer an exciting itinerary of presentations and lectures. The content of this programming will give you a deeper appreciation for the wildlife and landscapes you will encounter on your voyage.

On clear days, admire the view from the deck, watching the world go by, and grab your binoculars to look for sea birds.

From deck, you may also spy whales making their way through the water below. Many species such as minkes, humpbacks, and orcas live in these waters.

On stormy days, sit in the observation lounge, protected from the weather by glass so that you can take in the glorious scenery without sacrificing any comfort. Or pay a visit to the captain at the bridge and enjoy the vantage from there.

Whatever your mood, the Magellan Explorer offers a host of different activities to entertain, engage, and and ease your journey through the Polar region. Find a state-of-the-art gym, a bar, and a well-stocked library.

Day 3-6

Day 3
Oh Shore

At the various sites where you land on shore, you will surely encounter an abundance of wildlife. Many species of seals, including leopard seals, Weddell, fur seals, and crabeater seals, are well adapted to the harsh climate. And you will also find many species of penguins who call Antarctica their home. It is highly likely that you and your shipmates will be outnumbered by these flightless, aquatic birds. Keep your camera close at hand so you'll be ready to snap the perfect picture of these charismatic creatures.

You will also have the option to hike or snowshoe up snowy verges where you will find unmatched panoramic views.

At Sea

Every day in the Antarctic will lead to new adventures so be prepared for anything!

Daily Zodiac excursions included in your expedition will take you through glaciated bays and deliver you to a variety of landing sites.

You can elevate your experience by adding additional sea kayaking excursions, giving you uninterrupted views of glaciers and incomparable moments of solitude in the open ocean.
