It may have won awards for service and design, but it’s the location of the 12 Apostles Hotel that really impresses us. Flanked by Table Mountain National Park, a World Heritage Site, the dramatic Twelve Apostles mountain range, and perched high above the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, it’s breathtaking in every way. The hotel itself has 70 individually-designed bedrooms and suites with modern luxuries and conveniences that overlook either the mountain or the sea. The service from all staff members is top-notch and the food is exquisite. And then there are the facilities: with a beautiful spa, a private 16-seater cinema, two heated pools, garden hammocks and hiking trails, there’s something for everyone.

Camps Bay, Cape Town, South Africa
Being pampered in an exquisite setting in one of the most iconic hotels in the city.
The extensive spa with its delicate murals, mountain gazebos and burbling hypnotherapy pools is THE place to while away an afternoon. In fact, we say make it a day!
The décor is plush, but perhaps in more of a traditional sense. If you’re looking for cool and contemporary, think again.
The reception area is small but opulent and has an elevator leading up to the restaurants, bar and other public areas. Azure Restaurant is a fine-dining restaurant, while The Cafe Grill offers a more casual dining experience. The Leopard Bar is famous for its panoramic ocean views and breathtaking sunset views. There are two heated pools –a rock pool facing the mountains and another pool facing the sea. The 16-seater private cinema can be used or booked for exclusive use.
The hotel has 55 deluxe guest rooms and 15 luxurious suites. All are individually decorated and have views of either the mountains behind or the ocean in front (if it’s peace and quiet you’re after, opt for mountain-facing). The rooms are bright and airy and combine style and comfort with modern technology, and the calm colours and rich fabrics complement the spectacular natural vistas. Plush bathrobes, squashy slippers and Nespresso machines are provided in each room, as are lengthy soap and pillow menus for the ultimate in indulgence.
There is a spa, a fitness centre, two heated pools, garden hammocks and a conservatory where one can just relax with a book. If you want to watch a movie on the big screen, there is a 16-seater private cinema with complimentary popcorn, milkshakes and hot chocolate at your disposal. There are stunning hiking trails behind the mountains and a scuba diving site just outside the hotel. Picnics can be arranged and so can sports buddies if you want company.
