This property is chic and modern yet harkens back to Victoria Falls' roots with its extensive gardens and rambling verandahs. Just a fifteen minute walk from the heart of town and several activities, it's a convenient base that also offers peace and solitude from this busy adventure capital. Victoria Falls itself (locally known as Mosi-oa-Tunya - 'the smoke that thunders') needs little introduction. More than a mile wide, straddling the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, it boasts many impressive statistics, though its supreme beauty and the experience of seeing the Zambezi River dive into the First Gorge needn't be quantified. With twenty-two rooms of various styles, Batonka is a little larger than other guest houses in the area, though it offers high-end, experienced service with a personal touch.

The peaceful atmosphere and the large, unshaded swimming pool - the perfect spot unwind after a hot day out exploring.
You may be tempted to eat out in town, but stay in for dinner one night and indulge in Batonka's three-course set menu dinner - you won't regret it!
This an ideal retreat for travellers who move at a slower, quieter speed. The pace of life is lovely but might be too chilled-out for some.
At the heart of Batonka are its manicured lawns and swimming pool, traced by a large terrace. There is plenty of shady seating on the porch or in the garden. Dining can be done alfresco, or inside in the extensive dining room that serves a very plentiful traditional English Breakfast. The large living room is a comfortable and cozy place to escape with a book or a whiskey by the fire. The front desk is well-tended and offers a wealth of information - Vic Falls definitely warrant it. There's also a decent curio shop that offers local crafts without the haggling.
27 rooms are divided into separate blocks of five and six each to ensure optimal privacy. Some rooms possess convenient adjoining doors, ideal for families and couples traveling together. Each opens onto a large furnished patio, overlooking the central gardens or shimmering pool. All rooms are en suite - 16 with a shower and a bathtub and 11 with just a shower. Furnished with a four-poster bed and pared back wooden desks, the rooms are outfitted with handy mod-cons such as a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. Rooms are tastefully furnished in white with splashes of color.

Victoria Falls is a hub for adventure-seekers with seemingly innumerable adrenaline activities in the town and its surrounds. However, it's equally pleasant for those wanting to relax and take in the landscape in colonial style. Besides viewing the Falls from the adjacent national park, there are several ways to experience its magnitude: a helicopter flight gives the Angel's perspective of the Falls and the staggered canyons; a rafting trip through the mighty rapids below; sunset cruises on the Zambezi; bungee jumping and gorge swinging - not to mention the host of cultural experiences to be had in outlying areas, as well as decent wildlife regions nearby. Batonka is well-connected and can assist you in organizing any of the many activities on offer.
