Lake Natron Camp Ngare Sero

The bedouin tent is very appealing with its colourful kilims and deep daybeds with African-print pillows. Relax under the canvas tent, order a chilled drink from the bar and let your bones rest. You will be tired from either a waterfall or volcano trek for sure. Views across the grasslands may include some zebra, wildebeest, ostrich or camels who are known to meander through. There’s a demarcated natural swimming pool and a pool-area chill out zone.

The 10 guest tents are spacious and simply furnished with a double bed, writer’s desk and a terrace which has it’s own outdoor furniture. The ensuite bathrooms have solar-powered hot water and compost loos (it’s not bad at all). You can zip up the tent up avoid mosquitos in the evening. We love the basins carved from wood and the view out the bathroom window. Enjoy a swim in your own personal natural stream, a stones-throw away.

I would rate it as one of the highlights of our recent east Africa trip.
