With the serene Arenal Volcano overhead and the lush rainforest below, the views from Nayara - and its clifftop locale - are impeccable. This is glamping at its sustainable yet luxury best and a stay here adds an extra helping of magic to the already incredible Arenal National Park. The tented suites, shaded by thick trees, offer the utmost privacy, and, on your way to the open-air spa for a bamboo massage or dinner at one of the fabulous nearby restaurants, you'll follow a trail surrounded by tropical flora where sloths and howler monkeys, hummingbirds and incredible blue morpho butterflies dwell. Look out for Tony, a three-toed sloth and Nayara's unofficial mascot!
From $520 person/night
The closeness of nature and knowing how much Nayara does to protect its surroundings - they've even assisted Arenal National Park in its reforestation.
Nayara offers some fabulous, and slightly different, experiences including wine pairing evenings, mixology classes, and coffee roasting.
While most tents have a view of the Arenal Volcano, there are some that don't. It's certainly worth requesting!
Once a barren grazing land, Nayara has worked tirelessly on its reforestation efforts to make the grounds the emerald dream they are today. The camp enjoys access to the restaurants at both sister properties, which offer everything from Costa Rican classics to Asian-fusion - and all made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. In between excursions into the park, the alfresco yoga pavilion and beautifully-decorated spa are at your disposal, and the pool is in a lovely, secluded spot with a swim-up bar. Toast the day with a unique tropical cocktail at the Bar Azul or glass of wine at Nostalgia.
The tented suites are beyond stylish with their tropical prints, well-chosen details and large canopy beds from which you can take in the views. In order to keep their footprint light, all tents are built on stilted platforms and positioned to minimise the need for air-con and heating. Instead, nature takes care of that. The bathrooms are superb with a huge soaking tub, double outdoor rainfall shower, and eco-friendly amenities. Out on the terrace, there is a sitting area, daybed and infinity plunge pool fed by mineral hot springs.
There's plenty to do on the property, from sunrise birdwatching and nature trails to nocturnal hikes to spot bright-eyed frogs. Your personal guide will organise any and every activity, including Arenal's many excursions: ziplining through the canopy or treading along the Mystic Hanging Bridges, hiking across lava fields, or rapelling down waterfalls (make sure to take a dip at the idyllic pools below La Fortuna!). Guests can also visit a local village to meet members of the local Maleko community and learn about their crafting traditions.
