About Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay

A re-modelled, 18th century monastery, Sonesta Posadas del Inca Yucay’s heritage is at the heart of its charm. Located smack bang in the middle of the Sacred Valley - Ollantaytambo is a 30-minute drive in one direction, and Pisac in the other - the mountainous backdrop is also quite magical. And then there's the beautiful gardens, constant sunny skies, quaint chapel, roaring fire pit each night, and the friendliest staff, making for a truly excellent base for exploring the many sights the Sacred Valley has to offer.

What you'll love

The extensive and impeccable grounds are alive with flowers and fruit trees and you’ll spend a surprising amount of time around the hotel, taking all the photos to remember them by.

Insiders tip

No need to stress about souvenir you forgot - there’s a local handicraft market held every morning within the hotel grounds. Just don’t forget to bring your A+ bargaining game!

Something to think about

The hotel doesn't have a swimming pool or a fancy spa, somewhat common in other Sacred Valley hotels. But with the serene grounds and surroundings, who needs a massage?

The property

The setting has a charming, village feel with a chapel, tile-roofed buildings and spectacular gardens surrounding a central “square,” complete with a tinkling water fountain. Cobblestone pathways connect the terraces and buildings and the common areas all feature quaint décor but with additional modern touches and amenities. The included breakfast buffet is a delight and there’s a separate coffee shop, deli and even an Italian trattoria.

The rooms

The hotel’s colonial-style rooms are spread across four wings. All have hardwood floors and stone details that add to the historic feel. Unbelievable mountain views are standard in every room, as are flatscreen TVs, individual heating, and ample bathrooms with both a tub and a shower. The bigger, more luxurious master or superior suites offer separate living rooms with comfy sofas or two separate rooms for privacy, while family rooms with up to four beds are also available.

Activities

The town of Yucay, where the hotel is located, is quiet but Urubamba is a short 5-minute drive away and has plenty of restaurants and shops on offer. Although the hotel doesn’t have tours per se, the 24-hour guest services team are happy to assist with tours and recommend activities in the Sacred Valley, from the Maras salt pans to Ollantaytambo and anything in between. And don’t miss out on the Pisco sour making and tasting class at the bar!
