After touching down in San Jose, find your bearings in the bucolic Central Valley where coffee tastings, quaint village markets and a taste of Costa Rica's famous volcanoes await.
Hop aboard a boat or small plane for your trip to Tortuguero, a haven for green sea turtles who arrive in their thousands between July and October. Explore its waterways by kayak or hike into forests to spot eye-catching wildlife - day and night!
Head inland once again to the foothills of the Cordillera Central mountains, for a few days of white water rafting, ziplining, canyoning and getting to know Costa Rica's indigenous communities.
Finish with a sunny flourish in a surfing hotspot on the southern Caribbean coast, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. When you're not in the water, take in the local cuisine and reggae vibe of this seaside town.

Inaccessible by road, Tortuguero National Park is a haven for wildlife, especially nesting green sea turtles, and between July and October, you'll have the chance to see the laying of eggs or even the hatchlings' race to the water along the protected shores. Explore the Caribbean yourself on a snorkelling excursion or boat along the forested canals in search of iguanas, sloths, crocodiles and toucans - then head back at night for an entirely different cast of creatures. Before you leave, toast your trip with something chilled and coconutty in the laid-back village, and get into the spirit of all things Caribbean!

Hidden deep in the jungles of Pacuare, where ocelots and jaguars roam, monkeys and birds chatter, and sloths doze, this is the ultimate place to escape to... The stellar location isn't taken lightly either: zero trees were removed during construction, and the lodge works closely with conservation projects and the local communities. It's easy on the eye too with tropical-chic villas that immerse you in nature - sleep in the canopy in a luxury treehouse, or get as close to the babbling Rio Pacuare as possible. To top it off, here's a surplus of adventure to be had, from some of the finest white water rafting in the world to nocturnal forest hikes.
A parrot-green region below the Cordillera Central Mountains, Turrialba truly captures Costa Rica's adventurous spirit. There are endless chances to explore, whether its zooming through the canopy on a zipline, white water rafting down the beautiful Pacuare River, or trekking amongst the forest, day or night. On a slightly different note, visit a local Cabecar community and learn all about their traditions and crafting skills, or watch chocolate transform from bean to bar at a cacao farm.
You will be collected from Pacuare Lodge and driven to your next lodge.

One look at Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and you'll know you've arrived in the Caribbean. The beaches are the biggest draw, making a beautiful spot to laze in the sun with a coconut drink in hand or ride horseback along the sand, while the Salsa Braves provide some of the best surfing in the world. Get into the spirit of things with dinner in a local village, where reggae beats spill out onto the streets. In true Costa Rican fashion, there are also plenty of lush reserves to explore inland, a knowledgeable guide by your side.

Costa Rica's capital city has its share of historic highlights to 'ooh' and 'aah' over, but we bet your interests will quickly turn to the natural beauty surrounding it. Here, the landscape is dominated by the peaks of the Poas and Irazu volcanoes: hike to the top for sensational views and excellent photo opportunities, before escaping into the forests where birdlife declares itself in a constant symphony, waterfalls provide idyllic pools to cool off in, and there are river rafting adventures aplenty. Growing just as green in the countryside, you can also enjoy a stroll and a lesson in farming at one of the many coffee farms.
You will be collected from your lodge and driven to San Jose Airport.
