You may be only stopping over in Nairobi as a start or finish to your safari, but why not do it in style? Just 5 kilometres from the booming city centre, Tamarind offers a fresh face to Nairobi with eye-catching, graffiti-style interiors, a large and very swimmable pool, and dining spots to suit any hour of the day, including the Duka Coffee Shop that stays open for all 24 for early morning flights and pre-game drive munchies. If you have the time (and energy) to explore the city, there are galleries, markets and eateries within very easy reach, and the unique national park offers some very fine wildlife-watching.

Afternoon tea in the Dawa Lounge. It's a fantastic way to unwind!
If you'd like an off-the-cuff day out, grab a packed picnic from the Duka Coffee Shop and go where the mood takes you.
The rooms have an open-plan bathroom, which can take some getting used to.
For your dining pleasure, quirky Tamambo serves a wide menu of dishes prepared at live cooking stations, and for a tipple, the vibrant Dawa Lounge offers signature cocktails by a heated pool. Try the hard-hitting Mamba Venom or Elephant Mudbath with coffee liqueur as a pick-me-up! Anyone who's set foot in Nairobi will likely have heard of Carnivore Restaurant, home of the famous 'Beast of a Feast', an all-you-can-eat experience with delicacies roasted on traditional Maasai swords. For lighter fare, head into Duka for a pastry.
Tamarind's rooms are some of the largest in the city and range from Standard to Superior Suites that all come complete with bright lounge areas. All rooms are decorated in warm tones with pops of mustard on scatter cushions and couches. The en-suites have a large rain shower, and each room has comfortable extras like blackout curtains, double-glazed windows, and coffee stations. The Family Suites have a large sitting area, which can be used as a second bedroom, and reams of closet space.
Head out to see the sights, ranging from the Sheldrick elephant orphanage to the sanctuary for endangered Rothschild giraffe, where you can share 'lunch' with the long-legged creatures. Get to know one of the area's famous residents at the Karen Blixen Museum, where 'Out of Africa' was written, and enjoy a cup of tea overlooking the very same hills. Then, discover the artistic side of the city at the various galleries and local markets - and make sure to leave room in your suitcase for something to bring home.
Show all wildlife
A land of stark contrast, where a rolling wilderness meets the rising buildings of a growing city, proving that harmony can be achieved in a modern world. Explore and discover a diverse range of wildlife in the Nairobi National Park; species like zebra, warthog, giraffe, buffalo and lion are in abundance with Black rhino sightings almost a given. There are leopard and cheetah, but these shy creatures can be a little more difficult to spot. This birdlife does not disappoint either with more than 400 species present in the region.
