Tucked in a riverine forest, Greenfire Game Lodge offers an idyllic setting, peace and privacy – plus all the action of Kruger National Park. Here you're in Balule Nature Reserve, a wilderness area that shares an unfenced border with South Africa's most prolific wilderness area. The benefits are the sheer variety of wildlife and landscapes of its neighbour (though Balule's 50,000 hectares are spectacular in their own right – the activities are not restricted to daylight hours, nor are off-road sightings off-limits). And for your rest and amazing meals, Greenfire's superb hospitality is just the ticket.

You'll love the tucked-away feel of the structures that truly integrate themselves into the wilderness.
Getting out on foot lets you enjoy another dimension of safari - the sounds and smells and subtleties of this place that are too often overlooked.
There's a strong modern vibe here; if you're looking for something a bit more rustic and safari-style, this may not float your boat.
A striking two-tiered modern structure at the heart of Greenfire feels at once luxurious and minimalist. It's expertly built (on stilts) to minimise impact on the riverine forest setting, with cleverly placed windows and skylights making the most of the natural light. There's a comfortable lounge, a dining area where we assure you great times, and a wraparound veranda with superb views. The stone-landscaped swimming pool is perfect for hot days, and pool loungers great for unwinding.
The nine rooms shelter within the tree canopy, surrounded by knobby old-growth trees. From this slightly elevated vantage you can enjoy birds in their leafy environment. Echoing the design of the main area, the rooms have expertly placed windows to capitalise on the light, and private decks to bask in the views. The interiors are gorgeous, and decidedly contemporary in decor, with clean lines, quality linens, lovely rugs and local artworks. Indulgent en-suite bathrooms have baths and showers.
Twice-daily activities structure your day. Mornings begin just before sunrise with a coffee and a bite, flowing into a game drive that lasts until late morning and ends with brunch in camp. Drives principally traverse the immediate reserve, where good numbers of game roam (all of the Big Five plus others), but may venture into Kruger proper. Later-afternoon activities start after teatime and can last past sunset or well into the evening if the nocturnal life is especially active.
